She is celebrating her ten years old, and she remains the most famous liner over the planet. Last transatlantic ship, modern version of a historic style of voyage, evidence that Old and New World can be reached without to travel in a tiny tin box, Queen Mary 2 is herself a symbol of the Human Conquest. From 2004, between April and December, she crosses the Atlantic Ocean about twenty times, every journey spending one week. A bit more than 2,600 guests are on board for every voyage : they are essentially tourists, cruise enthusiasts discovering the Transatlantic History. The 200th crossing has been celebrated on last Summer, the event was well-marked both in Southampton and in New York.
Is that we do not travel on board the Ocean's Queen like on every common boat : QM2 is not designed as a cruise ship, but as a liner. Massive, stable, protected from bad weather, she has already met violent gales during several days. Her silhouette rebirths the image of the yore vessels, United States, France, Normandie, and of course QM and QE2.
Aboard QM2, the ambiance is so cozy, alike the image of Cunard Line - which is celebrating his 173 years old. In an atmosphere melting so nicely black and white, red velvet and wood colors, the passengers rediscover the tradition of the high-level journey. It requires about 2,000 euros per person to cross on board, the price including the return flight. This is a definitely reasonable cost for a so luxurious cruise, which will allow you to admirer the big Apple in the early morning from the sea : crossing below Brooklyn Bridge, friendly greeting from the Statue of the Liberty... In all the travelers knowing New York, every will tip you the maritime way to crunch the city as an exceptional place.
In France, Queen Mary 2 is seen as a part of the national patrimony - like in England. Her realization is one of (or the) most successful of Saint Nazaire's shipyards. Delivered on December 2003, she kept during two years the tittle of largest passenger ship over the world, before this last to be cough by Royal Caribbean's giants. QM2 regularly comes to salute her birthplace, mostly in the historical ports of Le Havre and Cherbourg. Every venue attracts several hundred people, coming to admire the majestic ship and to hear her impressive horn, which resounds for each departure, until several kilometers around the ship.
